What Is Invisalign®?
Invisible braces like Invisalign® are a comfortable, removable, retainer-based alternative to traditional orthodontics. During the treatment process, your dentist will fit you for a series of clear teeth aligners that gradually straighten your teeth, just like braces do. However, instead of gluing to your teeth, Invisalign® teeth aligners are completely removable and very discreet. How Does Invisalign® Work?
Invisalign® treatment is safe for both adults and teenagers in need of orthodontic care. It is an efficient, fast and convenient alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign® teeth aligners straighten your teeth without metal braces or other orthodontics. During an Invisalign® treatment, Dr. Pulver will fit clear, removable retainers that are custom made for your mouth to slowly shift your teeth into proper alignment. Invisalign® aligners are typically much less painful than traditional braces, and make activities like brushing your teeth and eating easier.
Since each set of Invisalign® retainers is customized for the patient, Dr. Pulver will first make an impression of your upper and lower teeth to build your unique treatment plan. Each new tray and treatment phase will move your teeth closer into position. You will wear each aligner over your teeth for approximately two weeks at a time for 21 to 22 hours a day.
What Are The Benefits of Invisalign® Treatment?
Unlike metal braces, you can remove Invisalign® retainers to eat and during your daily brushing and flossing. Maintaining good oral hygiene during your orthodontic treatment is easier and more convenient with teeth aligners than with traditional braces. Despite the ease provided by Invisalign®, make sure not to neglect your dental hygiene. As Dr. Pulver will caution you, your regular hygiene routine of brushing and flossing after each meal is imperative for your oral health and the ultimate success of your orthodontic treatment.
How Long Does Invisalign® Treatment Take?
Just like traditional orthodontics, your treatment time with Invisalign® teeth aligners is determined by your own unique needs. Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly until you achieve a beautiful smile. Although the timeline is different for every patient, the majority of Dr. Pulver’s Invisalign® patients generally wear their aligners between nine to 15 months.
